On Friday, August 7th, Florida U.S. Senator Mel Martinez resigned from office unexpectedly. This gives Florida Governor Charlie Crist the opportunity to honor the wishes of Florida voters by appointing another pro-life, pro-family conservative to the U.S. Senate as temporary replacement until the seat is permanently filled in November, 2010.
